The endoscopic approach is a technical option for performing a mastectomy in women with breast cancer or at high risk. Its main advantages are better visualization of the dissection in the areas furthest from the incision and less trauma to the skin flap because the use of gas prevents traction with retractors. To do this, it is important to systematize a methodology that guarantees patient safety, the education of surgeons and residents, and the analysis of oncological and quality of life results. This video shows the systematic approach in our unit for this type of surgical technique.
Our breast unit will request authorization from the Research Ethics Committee this year for a prospective study to evaluate the results of endoscopic and robotic breast surgery in women with breast cancer and at high risk in our hospital.
